Benjamin Troutman
Ben Troutman is an artist, designer, and photographer from Mid-Coast Maine. Recently, he graduated from the College of the Atlantic with a BA in Human Ecology, where he focused on photography, visual design, and community engagement.
His work often explores the themes of time, change, and the impermanence of memory. In his recent solo exhibition, “East of the Cheese House,” Ben examined how his memories of MDI, where he spent the last four years, will fade and change over time. He used window reflections to layer multiple images into single photographs, creating compositions that mirror the complex and imperfect nature of memory.
His photographs serve as visual artifacts of personal experiences, capturing the essence of places that undergo transformation.
Currently, Ben uses his artistic background and organizational skills as the Project Manager at Lights Out Gallery, where he helps to support the Maine arts community.
