Kronprinzessin Cecilie was a German passenger liner completed in 1906 at Stettin Germany. She made regular trips across the North Atlantic for 8 years. In early August 1914, she was at sea when WW I broke out. Kronprinzessin Cecilie turned back and found safety at Bar Harbor. She was laid up and seized by the U.S. Government when the United States entered the war. She was renamed Mount Vernon and served as a U.S. Navy Transport from mid-1917 until Sept. 1919. Mount Vernon was too old to be used in WW II and was scrapped in 1940.
